Gordmans is an everyday department store with a large selection of the latest brands, fashions, and styles at up to 60% off department store prices. Stage Stores has owned the chain since March 2017. In 2019, Stage Stores began converting other retail chains it held into Gordmans stores, resulting in 700 Gordmans stores in 42 states by the end of 2020.

The Gordmans text marketing program provides subscribers with updates on store-wide deals and exclusive text subscriber-only discounts. Often sending SMS messages, Gordmans provides recipients with a website link to encourage online browsing and purchases.
